Plumber in the family

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Ugh! Our plumbing is going out again. I’m so not-happy about it but my husband was looking at a cad drawing and says that he can fix it. I’m sorry but I don’t know what he’s looking at but he says that these will provide the answers he’s looking for…and that’s what it’s all about. When the parts go out, one at a time, on the plumbing ‘thingy’ it really is a pain but…if it can be fixed, my hubby will fix it. He’s good at stuff like that ;-)

Overcome the fear - and do it!

My sister is selling her home that is very cool - to say the least. I’ve offered to get her the shipping boxes she needs but…she needs a LOT of boxes. Her home is based at the base of the mountain in Crested Butte and just 25 feet from one ski lift and 100 ft from another. I’m afraid of heights so it took me until my last day to go up on the lift. I looked at the lift, photographed the lift and walked by the lift and figured it was so bad…the lift wasn’t as high off the ground as the one I went on in Clarksville, Missouri when I was young…or so I thought. The problem was that I didn’t know that the lift went higher off the ground the further up the mountain it went…ugh! Of course, once you’re on the lift…you can’t get off. How did I make it without screaming? My sister talked to me, we laughed and I took lots of photos of the mountain tops…not the ground; that would be just plain freaky! Of course, once we were at the top of the mountain is was very-very cool. My sister showed me around and the views were breathtaking…totally breathtaking. Was it worth it, being freaked out? Totally. I highly recommend a trip to the top, fear of heights or not.

Losing weight?

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

We already know that weight loss pills aren’t exactly my cup of tea but…what about best weight loss supplements? I haven’t really ever tried a weight loss supplement since the pills never worked in the past. I recently lost almost 30 pounds but that wasn’t with supplements, although they might have helped as well, but it was with another diet plan and I came close to starving to death (or so I felt ;-) Of course I didn’t but I wish there was another way for me to lose the weight besides exercise or diet…ugh!

Do you read?

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

When was the last time you read a diet pill review before you used the pills? Do you do your homework to be sure the side effects that come with the meds don’t effect you in the wrong way? In the past, I’ve taken diet pills, weight loss pills - and - at one time, I drank “weight on”. Who’d have thought I’d need the reverse effect today ;-) Now that I think about it, the weight loss pills I’ve taken worked just as well taking weight off - as the “weight on” drink worked at putting weight on…that is to say - none worked at all for me. Ugh!

What “if”

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Three weeks ago I had a test run on what it’s like to have my health, life, put at risk. I’m not sure I handled it well but I was suddenly wishing I had disability insurance…or any insurance. Sure, I’m pretty healthy but since I’m not the decision maker on my life expectancy I know I could have problems in the future…or three weeks ago. My test came back negative but now that I’ve found out just how falible I am…I need to plan the what will happen if…

Never forget you’re a man…

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Who can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan and make you never-ever forget you’re a man?

Your very special lady. So, what do you get her as the perfect gift that she’ll remember forever? A pearl necklace. A pearl necklace will dress up any pair of jeans, go with any office attire, are excellent for black tie affairs and…will be passed from mother to daughter to granddaughter. What can be a more perfect gift than giving a gift that will be kept forever, worn with love and remembered for many years to come? There is no more perfect gift than a pearl necklace for her…for today, tomorrow and always.

Solving high electric bill

Monday, July 6th, 2009

It’s 98 degrees and there is no sign it is letting up - at all. AC is very, very expensive where we live so now we’re getting ready to get a ceiling fan for our living room. We have pedistal fans but they are expensive to run, like AC. Ceiling fans add to the decor but most of all they are so cooling and more cost efficient. Now, do we get lights with the fan or do we just get the fan? Yet another decorating dilema…oh joy! At least we’ve made one decision, we are getting a ceiling fan! Hooray!

The world is her oyster

Monday, July 6th, 2009

My sister is moving! She’s been able to get her home ready to sell, ordered moving boxes and oraginzed her entire home. She has so many things that belonged to our parents, were hers when we were kids and she still has things that belong to her daughters. This is one reason she ordered lots of moving boxes ;) Now, the only task left is to decide where she wants to move next…the world is her oyster and she is the pearl.
