Yes, you read the headline correct. Three NYPD detectives, were acquitted this morning of all charges against them in the death of Sean Bell, a young man that was killed 18 months ago outside a strip club in Jamaica. I wasn’t in the courtroom while Justice Arthur Coopermanlistened to the testimony of witnesses so I’ll never say that he made the right decision or wrong.
What I’m writing about is what in the world is a guy doing in a strip club in the wee moring hours of his wedding day??? I’m not for or against strip clubs at all, but could this man and his friends not have been a little respectful of one of the greatest moments of a couples lives and celebrated a few days or a week earlier??? Why did he go to a strip club the night before his wedding? This, my friends, is being in the wrong place at the wrong time…not just because of his death…but the reason for his death to begin with. Now, his widow/fiancee and children will have to live with this poor decision forever.
Guys (and girls) go out, go to strip clubs, go to bars, have a party and celebrate before your wedding day…but please, do it days or weeks before the big day. If not out of respect but…to sober up when you make that promise…til death do you part.
